We’re Building Something on Agoura Road.
If you've driven past 30800 Agoura Road lately, you may have noticed something is different. Construction is officially underway on the Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF for short). The AWPF is the centerpiece of the Pure Water Project Las Virgenes-Triunfo, the largest infrastructure project in our District’s history that will create a new local source of drinking water for our community while increasing protections for Malibu Creek.

Upcoming construction and traffic impacts
Construction is in its early stages, and site preparation work is underway, so expect to see preliminary structures like trailers and a warehouse on site. When it’s done, there will be fourteen miles of new pipeline installed in the surrounding areas that connect to the AWPF.
The first phase of pipeline construction in Westlake Village will begin this August along Agoura Rd., spanning from Lindero Canyon Road. to city limits (just west of Lakeview Canyon Road.) This phase is scheduled to be completed in February 2027.
Here’s what you need to know during this phase of construction:
- Both westbound lanes of Agoura Road will be closed to most traffic, with select areas kept open to local traffic for access into surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.
- There will be a detour route available along Lakeview Canyon Road., Townsgate Road. and Village Glen for general traffic.
- Eastbound lanes will remain open.
Make sure to keep a look out for traffic signage for safe and orderly passage during these lane closures.
And for all you avid cyclists out there, we have not forgotten about you. A dedicated bike lane will be available throughout the duration of construction. This lane will also be dedicated to emergency vehicles as needed.
Throughout the closures, please make sure to keep a look out for traffic signage and, of course, to drive slowly and carefully through construction zones.
Working with businesses in the community
Our project team is offering potentially impacted businesses resources to help maintain the flow of business and ensure customer accessibility throughout the course of construction. Signage and wayfinding, parking solutions, pedestrian access maintenance, and marketing assistance are just a few of the tools we’ve developed to support and protect businesses in Westlake Village.
We know construction can be disruptive, and we’re committed to keeping this community in the loop every step of the way.
